In his new tell-all book, former Atlantan Bobby Brown says many of his troubles came out of his marriage to Whitney Houston. He told People magazine, “My story needs to be told.”

He said the marriage was doomed from the beginning and he never used cocaine until “after I met Whitney.”

Brown, 39, split with Houston, 44, in 2006. The couple has one daughter, 15-year-old Bobbi Kristina. The divorce became final in April 2007.

In a statement, Houston said she is “sad that Bobby feels he needs to say such things but she chooses to take the high road and will not speak badly about the father of her child even if it’s to set the record straight.”

Her old mentor, record company boss Clive Davis, added that Houston is focusing on relaunching her pop career, not Brown’s claims Whitney was responsible for his own descent into drug addiction. “I’m sure that this week has been traumatic, but she’s committed and looking forward to her new life,” Davis told People magazine.

Dionne Warwick, who is related to Houston, also spoke out in support for her as she faces new allegations from her ex-hubby.
